About the opportunity...

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and enhancing the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff, and visitors across the organisation’s aged care services. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring WHS systems, policies, and procedures that promote a proactive safety culture and prevent injuries.

 

Reporting to the Executive Manager People and Culture, you will:

 

  • Maintain, monitor, and enhance WHS management systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, standards, and internal policies, supporting audits and reviews.

  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, workplace inspections, and the implementation of risk controls.

  • Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.

  • Analyse trends in incidents and near misses to inform safety strategies.

  • Coordinate and deliver WHS inductions, ongoing training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.

  • Engage with staff and managers to promote ownership of workplace safety.

  • Support WHS Committee activities and initiatives, driving continuous improvement.

  • Collect, analyse, and report WHS performance metrics and benchmark against industry best practice.

About You

  • Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or willing to study.

  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and standards in aged care.

  • Experience developing WHS systems, policies, and conducting risk assessments.

  • Proficient in WHS reporting and documentation. 

  • Strong communication and training facilitation skills

 

You must also be willing to obtain a National Police Certificate before commencing employment as well as a functional assessment.
